Data centers are exposed to high-risk of business interruption. Therefore, seismic design of such structures should target aim to damage. Turkey is a highly seismic prone country. Conventional methods are inadequate for the design of such structures that need to be operational after an earthquake. Thus, it is needed to utilize innovative methods for operational performance level. This study explores the effectiveness of seismic isolated system for a steel data center structure. In the scope of structural design works site-specific seismic hazard analysis, seismic isolation and superstructure design are carried out. 3D nonlinear time-history analysis is performed for the structure with the triple friction pendulum isolators. Acquired practical engineering experience on the selection of seismic isolators and analysis results are presented in this study.
